Miki vs. Pete Rose

Now this has gone way too far. Uncle Arthur, up on Mount Hood for "training" for a "journalistic he-man ski adventure" came across this photo, took a picture of it with his phone, and then sent it to me with the subject line "Miki."

Now Miki isn't always the most photogenic. But look at how nice and un-Charlie Hustle she is?

Who's callin who Pete Rose?

Cupcakes at Rooster Rock

Cupcakes! Cupcakes! It was quite a day for old Ida, so fortunately Elsie was there.

Issa and Kaito even made the scene!

Aunt Maggie subverts the commonly held notion that she is not the creative side of her 5 year marriage by not only drawing a koala on Ida's cheek but also turning Ida's face into a koala face!

Later on, Theo and Maggie drew all over their bellies.

Ida did not find the "clothing optional" end of the beach, but she ran wild and got wet enough that she had to take off her pants.

So she started hanging out in her underwear at the party. Here she inspects Issa's ballerina face paint.

Later, Miki got some big medium sister squeezes.

Tattoos were tattooed.

And then this strange rapscallion was sighted:

3

Ida's not two anymore. She was delighted to hear that, this morning.

Party's not until tomorrow, though. So meanwhile check out some more of the same rockin' (and "keeping the rhythm") to "Tuesday's Dead":

Big Happenings in PDX

Probably the biggest news here in the last several years is the recent 40th birthday of our beloved Margaret Asayo Vining, AKA MAVVER aka Margaret AKA Marge AKA Maggie AKA Gret.

She's feeling, like, 22.

Who doesn't like to sing and eat cake?

Meanwhile, closer to the present day, like today, all three girls got up to make some banana bread. Some people said, "I really don't like to have my picture taken first thing in the morning" (so we cropped out their head) while others, like Miki, felt quite triumphant.

It's hard to take a picture of Miki without her climbing on you.

Rock Girls "Rock Out"

Ida says, "Bitterblue is my favorite song because it gets stuck in my head and it's loud and wild."

These are some nice pictures of her taken by her friends at Tumbleweeds.

Today she insisted on sneaking up behind the Easter Bunny and stroking his soft butt.

Miki is growing new teeth, mostly happy, doesn't need to sleep. Has a new technique of throwing up if she isn't relieved from crying after two minutes. Let's face it, she's not as photogenic as her sister. Many think she looks like Pete Rose, who was succcessful despite his looks. Also, her sister is always making her bite shoes and the like:

What she really likes is to eat paper. Now what is my student Laura Seegal going to say when I use that old "my baby ate your homework" excuse?

Back to "rocking out," which is what Ida calls it when she starts whipping her head around to Bitterblue. Here you can see that Miki is also deeply into Cat Stevens; here they're watching "Tuesday's Dead," though. "If I make a mark in time, I can't say the mark is mine."

Ida may seem a little morose, here; it's because she's asking "What is Alun doing? Where is Alun?" Alun Davies, as you know, is Cat's longtime lead guitarist and collaborator; Ida is very concerned that he's getting adequate billing. She often pretends to be Alun, and tells people that her name is Alun. She lets Elsie be Cat.

Ida's Fine

5 stitches, actually.
