This is due to the great generosity of Great Aunt Alice and Great Uncle Joe Vining (pictured, below). Word on the street is that they have a brand new granddaughter, Ella Josephine! Using mathematics, we've determined that Ella J. and Ida are second cousins.

Wow, her very own Sophie... that is one lucky little girl! I must say that she's looking very sharp in that pink checked outfit as well. Are't the built-in mittens sweet?
I've also noticed that Ida's chair, like cousin Elsie's, doesn't have any arms. Do we think that only boys get chairs with arms or is there no method to the chair-giving madness?
It's good to see some new posting. That's a nice pink outfit with thoughtful, built-in mittens. Sophie will only become more powerful with time.
Joe and Alice's reasoning behind their chair-giving is based on What's Going On in There (a book on brain development): girls' brains develop faster than boys', so D-Hawk will need the arms in order to sit safely in the chair. Ida and ELsie on the other hand, won't need the same kind of chair training wheels. You will remember that D-Hawk's father, Big D, once landed on his head folowing a fall off basement stairs which did not have any side rails. D_Hawk could suffer a similar fate if he were to sit in a chair without any arms. And we would not want that to happen, given the consequences to his father.
I resent the implication that my son is not as smart as his female cousins. How dare you!
This sounds a lot like "Aunt Anonymarge." Non-revisionist historians will recall that BigD only fell off the stairs because Aunt Anonymarge pushed him.
It's been a little while since I read "What's Going on in There," but it's my recollection that eventually the boys (most of them, if they haven't had the stair incident) catch up? In any case, Ida could've used arms on her chair. She's pretty, yet not that smart.
